With the changing of the season, an icy cold smoothie bowl just doesn’t seem so appealing at the moment… Furthermore, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda both believe that cold beverages and food are actually detrimental to your health: disrupting your digestive fire, shocking your body’s core temperature and even causing mucous. Not to mention the brain freeze and just general discomfort of trying to ingest something super icy in the a.m.
So let’s take a look at this gorgeous Autumn themed smoothie bowl, which is full of flavour, healing spices and good fats, protein and fibre, guaranteed to keep you full and satisfied for hours!
Cardamom pairs so well with pears (sorry, had to.) for that comforting spicy flavour. Cardamom is also full of healing benefits: it combats bloating and gas, helps eliminate waste through the kidneys, helps relieve cold and flu symptoms, aids bad breath… the list goes on and on! If you can’t find ground cardamom powder, use 1 or 2 pods and crush them up with a pestle and mortar.
This smoothie bowl is super easy to throw together and if you don’t have one ingredient, or you want to swap something out, that’s totally cool! When it’s really cold, you could even heat your nut mylk slightly to make this an even more comforting sort of smoothie bowl soup! Experiment and have fun!
